Introducing SERA00's costume designer: Asa Halpin!

Hey everyone!
It's Evie~ hope you guys weren't too surprised by my friend's super long Kpop rant...
Now formally introducing one of the two wonderful SERA00 staff; Asa Halpin! Along with Eliza Nishikino, these two incredibly talented artists make up SERA00's costume design team. They're responsible for creating and overseeing the production for each and every one of SERA00's costumes and uniforms.
They're also super friendly and personally know most of the members, which is one of the reasons why SERA00's blog has another contributor. Since I cover most of SERA00's events (forgive the recent lack of posts), she'll probably post more about interest-related topics. Let's all welcome Asa to the blogging team~

INTRUDER ALERT!!! -by Asa

Hai!!! My name is Asa and i've been invited (not really) -probably against the will of Evie- to breathe a breath of fresh air into SERA00.

We've been both friends both online and in person for a while now and we share some of the same interests :) I'm a casual blogger too, but I talk mostly about my art and running at www.mymiddle-ground.blogspot.ca

-->We're quite different in terms of character, like for example, when doing a frog dissection, I would be the one laughing maniacally and poking at its eyeball while Evie stands to the side holding antiseptic spray (true story). So, as I said, we go pretty far back.

For this post, I'll talk about one of the few things we agree on daily: K-dramas.
Evie consumes a vast array of Cantonese, Taiwanese, Korean, Japanese and idek entertainment while I stick to my safe little Hobbit hole of K-pop and the like.
I'm not really a crazy fan either, I like them in kind of a lukewarm, search-you-up-on-youtube way. Anyways, my favourite bands started out with 2PM, a JYP ent boy band. Then, I got sucked into B.A.P., Block B, BTOB, 2NE1, SHINee and Teen Top. Oh gosh. THEY'RE SO LIKEABLE! (that's the point -_-, says the producers)

Ok, so back to my point about K-dramas. I watch them because they are cool. Not really for any other reason. It's not like I have time for them at all with a heavy course load in school, but I guess I make time for them. They teach some valuable lessons (interspersed amongst the aegyo and rich men).

I started watching them a year ago when my friend suggested that I check out Boys Over Flowers.

--Note: I'm not going to bother with summaries because that's what Wikipedia is for.

Then, I watched Spy Myung-Wol which I dropped at episode 12 because Shinhwa's Eric Mun's acting was itch-inducing. However, it was still better than Boys Over Flowers-- the paradigm of high production value with no content *cough* Heirs *cough*. [Ee-Jung+Ga-Eul couple is cute though].

Oh! And we can't forget Dream High 1 and Dream High 2.
-Miss A's Suzy and 2PM's Taecyeon as well as Kim Soo-Hyun are the leads. It really isn't a light-hearted school drama at all. It deals with talent vs. hard work and the true meaning of achieving your dreams (hence "Dream High")
DH1 really used the idols' talents fully. The OST is outstanding too.
This is a remake of SNSD's Genie in the drama.
It got me into K-pop even though I usually judge these things harshly.
-This is the ideal drama to watch first.

Ok, now to the serious dramas that aren't really good for your health. I mean as in taking away your sleep and social life.

I Hear Your Voice
-I really liked the delinquent girl called Go Sung-Bin played by Kim Ga-Eun even though she wasn't the lead
- Jang Hye-Sung played by Lee Bo-Young is my ideal female protagonist: sassy, quirky and with a traumatizing past.

-This is a law drama, but the focus is on our male lead: Park Soo-Ha played by Lee Jong-Suk who can hear the thoughts of those around him. Wait a second...what voice does a deaf/mute person think in?
-Age-gap love--> aka Noona-dongsaeng love.
-Highly recommended, but the criminal who wants to harm the pair is bloody and creepy.

Prosecutor Princess
-ehhh...no closure whatsoever after 16 episodes. We still don't know who Seo In-Woo played by Park Shi-Hoo actually is.
-cute scenes because they find reasons to visit each other when they live in the same building.

Cheongdam-dong Alice
-Annoying female gold-digging lead. Not a fan of Han Se-Kyung played by Moon Geun-Young.
-It's supposed to be about high fashion, but the wardrobe is absolutely horrible.
-Dropped after episode 5

Shut Up Flower Boy Band
-Awesome concept and rock music OST
-Rare drama not about rich people
-Kim Myung-Soo from Infinite (the K-pop idol) plays a secondary role. Eye candy for sure, but not so much as an actor.
-In the end, I'd recommend it as a must-watch because it's so heartwarming.

City Hunter
-The fighting and shooting are hard core.
-Lee Yoon-Sung played by Lee Min-Ho isn't enough of a 3D character despite the great back-story.
-South Korean spies are commanded to assassinate North Korean leaders, but they end up being betrayed by the military leaders who kill the spies to cover up their misdeeds. Lee Yoon-Sung is back to avenge his father (killed) by revealing the crimes of each of the four military leaders.
-Classic "I love you, but I have to keep away from you for fear of hurting you" premise.

My Love from Another Star
-Do Min-Joon played by Kim Soo-Hyun (from Dream High 1) acts as the male lead, an alien who has been on earth for 400 years. When it is finally his time to go, he meets Cheon Song-Yi played by Jun Ji-Hyun, whom he falls in love with.
-Ohh, did I mention that he has super powers?
-Ohh, did I mention that there's a crazy, murderous CEO out to get them?
-In the beginning, the overall dramatic effect was one of the best I've ever seen, but around episode 15, all the elements started to drag.
-Not recommended unless you have lots of time on your hands.

The Master's Sun
-SO artsyyyy. The main character Tae Gong-Sil sees ghosts and are petrified of them. However, she helps them as a link between their world and hers. She used to be successful and glamorous until she became a recluse as a result of the ghosts.
-I like how Tae Gong-Sil played by Gong Hyo-Jin isn't the typical pretty woman. Joo Joong-Won played by Seo Ji-Sub is perfect for his role as a cold department store president too.
-Cute.
-One of the best dramas ever.

Good Doctor
-The first drama to tackle a savant autistic kid. I don't really know how accurate Park Shi-On played by Joo Won's autistic traits are, but he is very likeable.
-Entirely set in a hospital, Park Shi-On finds it hard to adjust to being a first year resident. The professor in charge, Kim Do-Han played by Joo Sang-Wook is against him at first along with the majority of the faculty, but the director of the hospital and Cha Yoon-Seo played by Moon Chae-Won are there to help him.
-Park Shi-On gradually wins his colleagues and his patients in the paediatric ward over and even manages to change the selfish manager for the better.
-This goes on while 3 relationships are progressing and a hospital takeover plot rolls out.
-Park Shi-On's awkwardness is absolutely hilarious.
-Episode 19 is a roller coaster. One second, I'm busting my gut laughing and the next, I'm tearing up for the plight of the patients.
-Watch this.

Ok, I hope you enjoyed reading my recommendations. I've watched a few more such as Reply 1997 and Coffee Prince and To The Beautiful You, but they weren't as notable.
I don't really like to make long posts so if you have any questions, please comment below!

BTW, thanks again to Evie for letting me post! Hope you visit my blog too ;)

Later <3

Evie's Sweet Sixteen~

Hey everyone!
As promised, I'll write about my birthday~ Evie's Sweet Sixteen Stage.
What song did I choose? One of my favourite solo songs of all time - This Is Not the End. It's originally Luraland's solo. Her voice is really clear so she can really make the slow song sound heavenly. The sound people mixed a slightly faster version for me.
Let me explain birthday Stages for those who don't know. Members celebrate their birthdays with fans during a SERA00 Stage. They get to take centre stage for the night. Regular Stage tickets are usually booked a month or so in advance (through the lottery), but birthday stages can't be reserved. It's on a first come first serve basis. Most members have their stages at the theatre, but more popular members will get a venue and a party with fans, or for example, Sassan celebrated her birthday on one of our tour dates.
Usually after we finish performing any Stage, the members who performed line up near the exit and the audience can shake hands and exchange a few words as they leave. This is also the time when they give us any presents, however, photos and autographs aren't allowed.
Thank you to the fans who have me birthday cards and presents! It doesn't matter whether you had something for me or not, I thank you all equally for coming to my birthday Stage ^_^ of course, the same thanks extends to those who didn't get into the theatre or those thinking about me at home~
I guess the centre position, Position zero, is really something different. It makes you feel special. I'll work hard so that someday, I'll stand there even when it's not my birthday!
The girls threw me a "surprise" party too, although some of them may not have been too clear on the "surprise" part >.< Whispering "she's coming!" and then scrambling loudly into their hiding positions...well they tried!
Remember Fela from the Sweetshop? She provided some desserts that Maya picked up. They were really tasty! Some of the more interesting desserts included mango purée encased in a whitish jello. There was also egg and milk pudding in eggshells, and something resembling a truffle but was actually a sticky dumpling with a Malteser in the centre o.o don't ask me why. The girls know I don't really like cake.
This is my mango supreme <3

Rome gave me this silver bracelet for my birthday. I actually gave her something similar for her birthday a couple of days ago, so now we have matching bracelets!
Alright, that's all for now. I kind of have a sore throat :( I'm going to go take a nap in hopes that I recover for tonight's Angel stage.
